LNG news in Europe

PitPoint.LNG B.V. and LIQAL are working together to expand the network of LNG refuelling stations in the German market as demand for LNG for heavy road transport picks up in Europe.

They have signed a joint declaration of intent to further promote the cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, particularly through building LNG trade relations.

Europe’s largest LNG terminal in Kent, UK, has achieved its highest utilisation record and continued its international reach with the arrival of vessels from eight new countries.

The companies signed a 10-year contract in Helsinki, Finland, to charter a FSRU that will provide flexible, reliable, and secure LNG to Finland, Estonia, and the Baltic Sea Region.

Through the contract, Golar will deliver the existing LNG carrier Golar Arctic as a FSRU that Snam will install in Sardinia as part of a project to supply the island with energy.

The agreement is for the supply of fuel for Brittany Ferries’ two new-build, LNG-fuelled hybrid Ro-Pax vessels that will operate between England and France from 2025.

This is the first time a delivery has been made on a vessel chartered by PGNiG Group, as well as the first shipment PGNiG has received from Venture Global LNG.

Operations of the facility are to resume in one week.

According to GlobalData, 40% of Italy’s gas imports are from Russia, and turning to Qatar is only a very short-term solution to overcome this.

The five-year agreement with provide storage and regasification capacity for Gasunie’s new LNG import terminal in the port Eemshaven, the Netherlands.
