Argentina to export first LNG cargo

According to two LNG trading sources, it is believed that YPF, the state energy firm, is offering a partial LNG cargo from the FLNG Tango vessel, which is located off Bahia Blanco. One of the sources reportedly stated that the cargo was on an FOB basis for prompt loading.
According to Reuters, by exporting this cargo, Argentina will become the 21st country to export LNG. Whilst the country has bought LNG for a long time (in addition to producing its own gas and buying pipeline gas from nearby countries), rising output from Vaca Muerta helped it to reduce LNG imports by more than 20% last year.
Nonetheless, Reuters claims that these new exports do not mean that the country will stop importing LNG altogether. For instance, Integracion Energetica Argentina has already issued purchase tenders for LNG cargoes for delivery from this month through to September.
