According to Reuters, three joint ventures (JVs) have been chosen by Cyprus in the first stage of a tender to provide an LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).
The first JV is led by China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering. The second JV consists of Samsung C&T, Posco E&C, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Osaka Gas. The third and final JV consists of Gaslog, a unit of Enagas and SNAM.
According to Reuters, the country is looking to have the FSRU importing LNG by 2021, and will use funds from a €101 million grant from the EU.
Reuters reports that the nation requested expressions of interest last month to supply the LNG. The deadline for doing so is 6 September 2019.
