The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gazprom.

The MoU was signed on 7 September 2017 during the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia. It will strengthen cooperation based on an MoU signed in December last year to enhance business relationships between Russia and Japan.

As Japan’s policy-based financial institution, JBIC claims that it will continue to build relationships with important partners in oil and gas development and LNG procurement, as well provide financial support to secure stable energy sources for Japan through efforts to create business opportunities for Japanese companies.
