PGNiG starts tender process to charter LNG tankers

LNG Industry,

According to Reuters, PGNiG has begun the tender process to charter LNG tankers for its new gas imports.

Reportedly, the company currently imports most of the gas it sells from Gazprom. However, Reuters claims that Warsaw has made efforts to decrease reliance on Gazprom, so that it does not have to extend a long-term agreement on gas supplies after 2022, which is when the agreement is due to end.

According to Reuters, PGNiG has purchased more LNG from the US and Qatar, and has signed import deals with companies including Venture Global, which is currently developing the Calcasieu Pass LNG terminal.
