The vessels will be 250 m long, 44 m wide and 21 m in height. They will be the first LNG-fuelled Aframax tankers in the world, and are scheduled for delivery in 3Q18.
An HSHI official said: “We believe the winning of the world’s first LNG-fuelled Aframax tankers is the proof of our world’s leading eco-friendly shipbuilding technology. As the demand for eco-ships increases with tightening environmental regulations, we will further accelerate our efforts to win eco-ship orders.”
HSHI claims that, by operating on LNG, the tankers will be capable of emitting 90% less SOx, 80% less NOx, 15% less CO2, and 50% less engine noise.
