Skangas to deliver LNG to Finland’s Stormossen

Stormossen offers fuel for passenger cars, as well as for the public transportation sector. The annual production of methane gas at the Stormossen biogas plant corresponds to 1.5 million litres of diesel. Initially, the gas will cover the needs of the city’s 12 buses, and approximately 1000 private cars. Skangas’ flexible delivery of LNG will serve as the back-up, and will secure Stormossen’s supply of biogas to its customers.

The Managing Director of Stormossen, Leif Åkers, said: “Skangas is our back-up for fuel deliveries to our new station. Choosing Skangas give us the option for steady supply of either LNG or biogas as they have a reliable gas distribution chain outside the gas grid.

“This is the first gas station but it will not be the last. We are aiming at increase the availability of gas as fuel in order to meet the market needs and public demands for a more sustainable and cleaner environment.”

Skangas’ Sales and Marketing Director, Tommy Mattila, added: “The traffic market is developing. That Vaasa selected gas buses for public transportation serves as a perfect example. We are happy to be able to contribute to the development supporting Stormossen with both LNG or biogas, depending on customer needs.

“From a larger perspective, this is an example that natural gas plays an important role in the vehicle gas supply chain. The consequence is that natural gas will contribute in the future development of biogas supply chain in the Nordics.”
