Pakistan LNG demand could triple in coming years

According to Reuters, the Chief Executive of Pakistan LNG has stated that Pakistan’s LNG demand could more than triple within the next three to five years.

This year, the country’s LNG imports could reportedly reach 15 million t. Over the next three to five years, they could grow to as much as 25 million to 30 million t.

According to Reuters, Pakistan currently operates two LNG terminals, both of which are nearly fully utilised. They have a regasification capacity of approximately 1.2 billion to 1.3 billion ft3/d of gas, or approximately 9 million to 10 million tpy of LNG. Reportedly, an additional two terminals are expected to announce a financial investment decision (FID) at some point this year.

The Chief Executive of Pakistan LNG claims that the country is expected to negotiate a few additional long-term contracts to import LNG.
