Fluor Corp. has released a statement claiming that James Hackett has been elected to the company’s Board of Directors. Hackett, who has previously served as a member of the Board from 2001 – 2015, will serve on the company’s governance and organisation and compensation committees. Altogether, the Board will now consist of 12 directors (11 of whom are independent).

Fluor has been involved in a number of LNG developments, including in liquefaction, floating LNG (FLNG), utilities and offsites, and regasification terminals.

The Chairman and CEO of the company, David Seaton, said: “Fluor is very fortunate to have an executive of Jim’s calibre re-join our board of directors.

“His vast knowledge and experience within the global energy sector provide Fluor with a unique and much sought-after business perspective that is key to the markets we serve. We are extremely pleased that he will once again be serving on our board at this important time for our company.”

Currently, Hackett is a partner in Riverstone Holdings LLC – a US-based private energy investment firm. He also once served as the Executive Chairman of the Board and CEO of Anadarko Petroleum Corp. Prior to Anadarko, he served President and COO of Devon Energy Corp., following its merger with Ocean Energy, where he was Chairman, President and CEO. He also once served as the Chairman, CEO and President of Seagull Energy Corp.

Hackett joined Seagull from Duke Energy, where, as President, he led its Energy Services Division. Before that, he served as the Executive Vice President of Pan Energy, when the company merged with Duke Power to form Duke Energy.

He has energy experience in a number of fields, including engineering, finance and marketing with NGC Corp., Burlington Resources and Amoco Oil Co. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and National Petroleum Council.

Hackett is also a director of Enterprise Products Partners L.P., National Oilwell Varco (Fortune 500 companies) and Sierra Oil & Gas. He formerly served as the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He is also a board member and former chairman of the Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University, where, for six years, he served as an adjunct professor.
