Polish Oil and Gas Company has received the hundredth supply of LNG at the LNG Terminal of President Lech Kaczynski in Swinoujscie. The jubilee load came from Qatar. In total, so far PGNiG has imported approximately 11 billion m3 of LNG after regasification.

The methane carrier Al Safliya delivered approximately 90 000 t of LNG from Qatargas on Friday 3 July 2020. After regasification, this corresponds to approximately 120 million m3 of natural gas.

“LNG imports is one of the pillars of our diversification strategy that strengthens Poland's energy security and at the same time provides us with flexible gas import portfolio. Every year more and more LNG flows into our country, and in the following years this import will grow even more significantly,” commented Jerzy Kwiecinski, President of the PGNiG Management Board.

The first two LNG loads that have arrived to Swinoujscie at the turn of 2015 and 2016 were used for the technical start-up of regasification installations in the terminal. The first commercial delivery took place in June 2016. Since then, the number of deliveries as well as their volume have been gradually increasing from year to year. Among the hundred deliveries so far, 67 came from Qatar, 21 from the US, and 11 from Norway. In March 2020, one LNG load arrived from Trinidad and Tobago. In over four years, the total volume of natural gas imported this way amounted to approximately 11 billion m3.

LNG also has an increasingly clear share in PGNiG imports. While in 2016 it accounted for approximately 8%, in 2019 it exceeded 23%, while gradually reducing the share of gas from the eastern route.
