According to Bloomberg, Total SA has announced that it remains committed to developing the natural gas project in Mozambique that it is set to take over from Anadarko Petroleum Corp. as part of its African expansion.
The development of the project will cost up to US$23 billion and, according to Bloomberg, will be Africa’s largest single investment. Mozambique hopes that the project will help transform its economy.
Bloomberg quoted Patrick Pouyanné, Chief Executive Officer of Total, as saying: “I would like to reaffirm the importance of Mozambique LNG for Total, where we will become the operator.
“This is a unique asset which perfectly fits our strategy and our skills.”
