XPO Logistics reaches agreement with BOC to use its LNG truck refuelling station

XPO Logistics and BOC – a member of Linde Group – have signed a new LNG fuel contract. XPO’s UK-based LNG-fuelled trucks will henceforth be refuelled at BOC’s LNG refuelling station in Teesport, Middlesbrough, UK.

The refuelling station was designed by BOC primarily to serve its 11 dual-fuel HGV vehicles, which transport gases from Middlesbrough to local customers, but it is available for use to third parties, such as XPO. XPO is currently in the trial phase to discover whether or not LNG dual-fuel technology is a viable, sustainable logistics solution, and has invested in 10 dual-fuel trucks. Incorporating dual-fuel technology will allow XPO to reduce its overall CO2 emissions.

The LNG Business Manager of BOC, Mark Lowe, said: “BOC is extremely pleased to offer XPO Logistics access to this important, environmentally friendly alternative to diesel at our new LNG refuelling station in Middlesbrough. BOC has a long-term commitment to play an active part in the transition to low-carbon transport and we look forward to continuing to work with XPO Logistics in the future.”

The General Manager, Bulk UK and Ireland of XPO Logistics – Ian Marguet – added: “We are delighted with the support that BOC has provided as we explore the potential of LNG as a clean alternative fuel to diesel within our heavy truck and tanker fleet. XPO Logistics shares BOC's commitment to environmentally friendly transport practices.”
