Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd has announced that it has installed LNG heating and cooling equipment at its Seto plant, which manufactures automobile interior and exterior products.

The main equipment includes the following: an LNG tank (50 kL x 1); LNG-fired steam boilers (2 tph x 2); air-cooled heat pump chiller (150 kW x 12). Operation is scheduled to commence this month.

According to the statement, the transition from kerosene to LNG and electricity as an energy source will reduce carbon dioxide emissions at the plant by approximately 800 tpy. This is equivalent to approximately 12% of total plant emissions.

Toyoda Gosei claims that its long-term environmental plan with a view toward 2050 – the TG 2050 Environmental Challenge – includes the goal of minimising carbon dioxide emissions. In working towards that goal, the company is aiming to decrease its yearly carbon dioxide emissions by 26 000 t compared to 2012 levels by fiscal 2020. The company claims that switching energy sources is just one part of that effort.

Toyoda Gosei will continue to make a number of other changes and efforts to protect the environment in all of its business activities.
