The AIDAperla will be christened on 30 June 2017 in Palma de Mallorca by presenter and model, Lena Gercke. The vessel features a dual-fuel engine and will be capable of producing onboard power from LNG whilst docked, accounting for approximately 40% of its operating time.
The AIDAperla arrived in Barcelona as part of its ‘Welcome Cruises’. Alongside Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona is one of the start and end ports for its seven-day cruises in the western Mediterranean.
The vessel’s twin ship, AIDAprima, has already been provided with LNG in all five ports of its Northern Europe cruises since May 2016.
