The Port of Antwerp has announced that Titan LNG has carried out the first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation at the port.

According to the statement, the Ramelia chemical tanker, which has been sailing for the Swedish Gothia Alliance since September last year, was bunkered at quay 512 at the dock of SEA-Tank Terminal in the Kanaal Dock.

The LNG was bunkered using Titan LNG’s FlexFueler 001, which has been licensed to deliver in LNG in the Port of Antwerp since last year. The FlexFueler 002 is reportedly set to be christened later this year, and will help provide LNG for ships throughout the entire Port of Antwerp area, using quay 526 as its fixed base.

Jacques Vandermeiren, Port of Antwerp CEO, said: “As the fifth largest bunker port in the world, we want to play a pioneering role in the integration of low-carbon fuels in the bunker market. With this first LNG bunkering in our port, we are again taking an important step in the transition to a multi fuel port.”
