GAS Entec completes work on first US LNG barge

The vessel, which will feature Gaztransport & Technigaz’ (GTT) Mark III Flex system, is currently being built at Conrad Orange Shipyard, Texas, US.
GAS Entec was responsible for the engineering basic/detail design of the LNG cargo and bunkering handling system, and supplied the main related equipment, as well as commissioning services. The company claims that ABS and USCG have also accepted the following: whole barge electrical engineering for the barge; integration automation service; emergency shutdown system; cargo handling system; field measuring package (level gauging system, custody transfer and measurement system, SMART field instrument); ship-to-ship communication link system; and fire and gas detecting system.
When complete, the vessel will be used to serve two TOTE LNG-fuelled containerships built in NASSCO’s shipyard in the US. The barge is expected to be delivered in 1Q17.
