Under the terms of the contract, TGPCL will charter from NYK a newly built LNG carrier that will be constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd in South Korea and scheduled for delivery in 2021.
According to the statement, the LNG carrier will feature a WinGD-made dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine (i.e. X-DF diesel engine) that has superior fuel-consumption efficiency and can operate on either marine gas oil or boil-off gas (BOG) stored in the cargo tank. In addition to this, the vessel will also feature a reliquefaction system that can use surplus BOG effectively.
The membrane-type cargo tank will have a capacity of 174 000 m3, utilising advanced insulating materials to suppress the boil-off rate in the cargo tank and realise improved efficiency and economical LNG transportation.
