Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery & Engine Co. Ltd (MHI-MME) has announced that it has delivered a regas boiler to Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (HHI) for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) developed by Höegh.

The regas boiler mounted on the FSRU has a role in providing the regasification unit with the required heat power (evaporation).

The boiler type selected for this project is a dual-fuel MAC type boiler, ‘MAC-90BF’ (evaporation amount: 90 tph). By recovering the heat of exhaust gas from the regas boiler in this project, the boiler efficiency is improved by 12.5% (from 82.5% up to 95%).

MHI-MME also managed to reduce NOx to less than 100 mg/Nm3, meaning that it can be applied in severe environmental regulation areas (only in the gas firing mode).
