Reuters reports that other parties to have expressed interest include Shell, Total, Samsung, and a number of Japanese trading houses.
According to Reuters, Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Co., which is part of Petrobangla (the stated-owned oil and gas company), requested expressions of interest (EOI) earlier this year from possible terminal developers for an onshore regasification terminal at Matarbari in southern Bangladesh.
Reuters reports that the EOI is for the design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of an onshore terminal that is capable of handling 7.5 million tpy of LNG. The facility will include facilities for receiving, unloading, storage and regasification services.
According to Reuters, all of the proposals submitted will be reviewed by a committee. It could reportedly take over a year to make a final decision and award the contract for the terminal.
Earlier this year, Reuters reports that Qatar Petroleum and Exxon took a positive final investment decision (FID) on the Golden Pass LNG export terminal, and need to secure buyers for the product.
