LNG Industry,

ENGIE has signed its first UK retail LNG sales contract with FLOGAS Britain. FLOGAS Britain provides industrial customers with alternative energy solutions, and is one of the biggest companies of its type. The contract dictates that, over a period of 18 months, ENGIE will deliver 8000 t of LNG from the Isle of Grain terminal to FLOGAS Britain. Operations, which will begin in the upcoming weeks, will include a total of 400 FLOGAS Britain trailers, loaded to supply industrial companies that are currently not connected to the national gas grid.

In order to prepare for the contract, ENGIE has set up trailer loading capacities at the UK terminal. ENGIE has now have gained a fourth retail LNG sales point, in addition to its activities at three existing terminals at Zeebrugge in Belgium, and Montoir and Fos-Tonkin in France. With such a large presence in northern Europe, ENGIE will be able to develop an overarching approach towards its European LNG customers.

The contract with FLOGAS Britain has been signed with the broad ambition of developing the retail LNG market; specifically, selling to customers that are not connected to the national gas grid, as well as LNG fuel for lorries and ships. This sector could represent 20% of the LNG market by 2030 (approximately 75 – 95 million tpy).
