JERA and DUSUP enter MoU for LNG cooperation

JERA Co. Inc. has announced that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP) regarding cooperation in the LNG industry.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties will discuss mutual collaboration opportunities in the LNG business. Specific discussion areas will include the joint procurement of LNG, as well as cooperation in LNG shipping and storage capacity.

The Emirate of Dubai is a major business hub in the Middle East, with further economic growth expected in the run up to EXPO 2020 in Dubai. The authority has supported this growth by procuring natural gas through both national and international pipelines, as well as by developing an LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) import facility in Jebel Ali. In the statement, JERA claims that by strengthening this relationship with DUSUP, both companies’ business opportunities can be expanded.

JERA will continue to work alongside LNG industry counterparts in and outside of Japan as it looks to gain even more competitive procurement in an LNG market that is currently undergoing significant change.
