Pentair achieves SIL 3 certification for two product lines

Pentair has received a Safe Integrated Level (SIL) 3 certification of its Westlock Controls AccuTrak Position Monitors and Quantum Control Monitors from a third party certification organisation, exida. Depending on the given application, SIL 3 certified products decrease the probability of an accident by a factor of 10, when compared to SIL 2 products.

Since passing the Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA), Pentair’s entire Accutrak and Quantum product range is now capable of use in SIL 3 applications in low demand, where systems operate less than once per year. They are engineered to offer a fail-safe system in certain environments, without compromising safety-instrumented systems (SIS).
