In Eemshaven, the Netherlands, the Cardissa tanker filled the three special tanks with approximately 3500 m3 of LNG.
Two of the tanks are approximately 35 m long, 8 m in diameter and have a capacity of 1500 m3 each. The third tank has a diameter of just 5 m, is 28 m long and has a volume of approximately 520 m3. With one filling, AIDA Cruises claims that the vessel can be powered for up to two weeks.
According to the statement, AIDAnova is now the world’s first cruise ship capable of being operated on LNG at both port and sea. By 2023, AIDA Cruises claims that two more AIDA vessels will follow. These will also be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
