LNG Industry,

Neste Jacobs has announced that it has signed a contract with Port of Turku to investigate the potential for LNG in the Turku region, Finland. There are plans to construct an LNG terminal in the Pansio harbour area, which would provide fuel for local industry needs, public transport and marine traffic.

The CEO of Neste Jacobs, Jarmo Suominen, said: “This project is a recognition of Neste Jacobs’ local knowledge and continuous long-term co-operation with Port of Turku.

“Our strategy is to be the leading engineering company in the gas sector, including LNG.”

The CEO of Port of Turku, Christian Ramberg, added: “Port of Turku considers this project to be highly important as LNG is a future trend and we want to contribute to its development in the Turku area. We have already great experience of using LNG in Turku region, as it has been used on Viking Grace passenger ferry. The use of LNG as a maritime or industrial fuel, outside the natural gas distribution network in Finland, requires guaranteed availability and distribution of LNG to a competitive price. Port of Turku wants to actively support the use of LNG together with Neste Jacobs and other companies in this field.”
