Germany soon to have two LNG terminals

According to Reuters, the German economy minister, Peter Altmaier, has expressed optimism that Germany will soon be building two LNG import terminals in the near future.
Germany’s use of gas and renewable energy sources has increased rapidly as the country pursues a policy of phasing out nuclear and coal power. Furthermore, it is experiencing international pressure, particularly from the US, to reduce its dependence on gas imports from Russia and buy LNG instead.
Speaking to a gathering of German and US energy officials and industry lobbyists, Altmaier announced that Germany is currently evaluating state subsidies and regulations before it decides to permit private investors to move forward with the construction of the required LNG import terminals.
