‘K’ LINE names newbuilding LNG vessel for Toho Gas

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd (‘K’ LINE) has held the naming ceremony for a newbuilding LNG carrier at a Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd facility in South Korea on 9 September 2026. The newbuilding LNG carrier, owned through a joint venture with Toho LNG Shipping Co., Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toho Gas Co., Ltd, was named TOHO EMERALD.

The vessel will play an important role in supporting the global energy supply chain through the transportation of LNG, including services for Toho Gas. Equipped with an ME-GA dual-fuel engine designed to operate primarily on LNG, the vessel will achieve highly efficient operation and contribute to the reduction of environmental impact. Combining excellent exhaust gas performance and economic efficiency, the vessel is scheduled to operate as a state-of-the-art vessel supporting next-generation LNG transportation services.
