TGE Marine delivers fuel gas units for Q-Max conversion

LNG Industry,

In mid-January, TGE Marine delivered the skid mounted LNG fuel gas package units to be used in the conversion of the first Qatari Q-Max carrier (Rasheeda), which will be able to run on LNG or heavy fuel oil (HFO).

The ship conversion will take place at the Nakilat Keppel Offshore & Marine facilities in Qatar, and will commence in April 2015. A factory acceptance test of the prefabricated modules took place in December 2014 in Germany, and the units have been shipped on schedule.

TGE Marine’s CEO, Manfred Küver, commented: “After a very intensive basic and detailed engineering phase we are happy that we did succeed to deliver the modules on schedule and we are looking forward to put the modules in operation sometime in the second quarter of this year. After the gas trials the Rasheeda will be the first LNG-carrier working on a converted MAN ME-GI engine.”
