LNG Industry,
According to Reuters, French network operators GRTgaz and Terega have reported that France has stored sufficient gas to see it through the winter, even in the event of a particularly cold snap.
The two operators noted that France’s well stocked inventory has benefitted from the recent sharp increase in the flow of LNG. Indeed, as it stands French gas storage facilities are filled to the brim, accounting for 129 TWH. This is reportedly the highest level recorded in the country in the last nine years.
LNG flows through France have doubled in the past year, reaching 211 TWH in October. This has largely been due to the completion of the Val de Saone gas pipeline, connecting northern and southern France, in addition to the creation of the single market Trading Region France. France’s storage networks and LNG terminals also make it a attractive LNG shipment destination.
