Cameron LNG ships first commissioning cargo

Sempra LNG, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, has released a statement claiming that Cameron LNG has shipped the first LNG commissioning cargo from the first liquefaction train of the export project in Hackberry, Louisiana, US.

Carlos Ruiz Sacristán, Chairman and CEO of Sempra North American Infrastructure, said: “This achievement brings Cameron LNG, one of Sempra’s five strategically located LNG infrastructure projects, one step closer to commercial operations.

“Seeing the first tanker depart loaded with US LNG produced at this world class facility is significant for our company.”

Sempra LNG claims that commissioning cargoes are a significant step in the startup process and support stabilising production and performance testing. Commercial operations from the facility will commence once Cameron LNG receives authorisation from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), expected in mid-2019.

The company also claims that more than 72 million hours were spent safely building the Cameron LNG export project to date, with almost 11 000 workers supporting peak construction.

Phase 1 of the project includes the first three liquefaction trains that will enable the export of approximately 12 million tpy of LNG, or approximately 1.7 billion ft3/d.
