Sempra subsidiaries seek FERC approval to construct Port Arthur LNG project

The application for the proposed project involves the following: two liquefaction trains capable of producing 13.5 million tpy at optimal conditions; three LNG storage tanks; natural gas liquids (NGL) and refrigerant storage; feed gas pretreatment facilities; two berths and associated marine and loading facilities.

Octavio Simoes, President of Sempra LNG & Midstream, said: “We are pleased to continue advancing the Port Arthur LNG project.

"Our experience in developing, building and operating energy infrastructure will help us deliver a cost-competitive project to the global LNG market."

In February 2016, Sempra LNG & Midstream signed a project development agreement with Woodside Energy (USA) Inc., providing a framework for the sharing of costs related to the development, technical design, permitting and marketing of the proposed Port Arthur liquefaction project.

Before a final investment decision (FID) can be made, commercial agreements need to be signed, permits and approvals must be granted, financial commitments must be secured and a number of other conditions must be met.
