Golden Pass LNG exports expected to commence in 2021

According to Reuters, Qatar is expecting to commence LNG exports from its Golden Pass joint venture (JV) in 2021. Qatar Petroleum holds a 70% stake in the Texas-based terminal, which is backed by Exxon Mobil and ConocoPhillips.
The Golden Pass facility is currently seeking approval from the US government to modify the facility so that it is able to export 15.6 million tpy of US gas.
Abdullah al-Attiyah, who once served as a Qatari oil minister, and now provides advice regarding energy to the government, reportedly said: “We already got the licence... If everything goes right by 2020 – 2021, we will export the first cargo from Golden Pass.
“We will become more dynamic in the energy market.”
