This follows the recent announcement that M/S Megastar has been successfully delivered from Meyer Turku Oy shipyard in Turku, Finland. It is 212 m long, capable of carrying 2800 passengers and 800 passenger vehicles, and features Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines that operate primarily on LNG.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wärtsilä will optimise the vessel’s performance, enhance its availability and reliability, and improve financial predictability for the customer. The service agreement also covers Wärtsilä’s Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and online remote support.
The agreement also includes maintenance and optimisation of the vessel’s engines, as well as the supply of spare parts and 24/7 online support. The full scope of Wärtsilä solutions on board the ferry includes three 12-cylinder and two six-cylinder Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines, two Wärtsilä fixed pitch propellers and propeller shaft lines, the most recent version of the Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum integrated navigation system and external communication facilities. The Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum system’s combination of integrated voyage planning, monitoring and track control eases the workload for ship navigators and improves navigational safety.

Solutions from the company’s Genius service portfolio, which optimise operational efficiency, will also be covered by the agreement. With CBM, the company is able to continuously monitor the condition of the dual-fuel engines on board the M/S Megastar, and analyse the received data to determine service and maintenance needs. This reduces operating expenses and ensures the optimal performance of the engines.
In addition to CBM, the company will have access to the company’s 24/7 online operational and technical support. With this, Wärtsilä will be able to provide support remotely.
