ENGIE has announced that GDF SUEZ Trading has been renamed ENGIE Global Markets. The subsidiary provides energy market solutions to various third parties from upstream to downstream. It has 390 staff and covers Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, with four trading floors in Paris, Brussels, Singapore and Rome.
Philippe Vedrenne, the CEO of ENGIE Global Markets, said: “Under this new brand, we are reaffirming our ambition to further extend our client-base, product range and business activities at an international level. ‘Global by name and by nature’ is embraced in this new name which I trust will call for great development opportunities.”
The French banking authority, Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), granted regulated status of Investment Service Provider to ENGIE Global markets. ENGIE, therefore, has an affiliate that already meets MiFID 2 directive requirements, which will be relevant to market players in the future.
