Cove Point liquefaction project construction 74.4% complete

Dominion Cove Point LNG LP (Dominion) has submitted its monthly status and progress report to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for its Cove Point liquefaction project.

Dominion originally received authorisation from FERC to construct and operate the project on 29 October 2014. The company has received all applicable federal authorisations for the project.

During the reporting period of January 2017, the company noted that engineering and engineered equipment procurement for the Maryland facilities are now essentially complete. It also added that construction is now 74.4% complete.

Regarding offsite area B (OAB), restoration activities and monitoring continued along with permit closeout coordination.

Dominion also claims that work has continued on modifications to the existing plant in the areas of the jetty platforms and tie-in scope.

At the terminal, work scope continued on foundations, grading, steel erection, equipment placement, piping, tie-ins, and electrical installation.

Construction activities carried out during January included preliminary commissioning activities for new compressor units, as well as associated equipment, final building completion activities, and earthwork for corrosion protection and electrical grounding.
