ExxonMobil shelves Canadian LNG project

According to Reuters, Exxon Mobil Corp. has decided to shelve its LNG export project in Canada.

Specifically, Reuters reports that the company has withdrawn its West Coast Canada (WCC) LNG export terminal from the environmental assessment process.

Reuters reports that, although the project was under joint review by the province and Canadian environmental regulators since 2015, no significant document have been filed since 2016. ExxonMobil reportedly announced its withdrawal from the process on 5 December 2018.

According to Reuters, the project, which would have been in built in northern British Columbia (B.C.), was expected to produce approximately 15 million tpy of LNG, eventually expanding up to 30 million tpy. It would have been purchased by Asian buyers.
