According to Reuters, Teekay LNG has announced that four Arctic ARC7 class LNG tankers are scheduled for delivery three to five months earlier than originally planned.

The tankers will be delivered next year, and are being constructed for Russia’s Yamal LNG project.

The Georgiy Ushakov and Yakov Gakkel will reportedly be delivered on 11 October and 25 November 2019, respectively. Originally, they were scheduled for delivery in January and February the following year.

In addition to this, the Nikolay Yevgenov and Vladimir Voronin are now planned for delivery on 4 June and 9 August 2019. Originally, Reuters reports that they were scheduled for October and November that year.

According to Reuters, production from the Yamal LNG project has been increasing faster than expected. As such, production has reportedly been constrained by that the fact that there are not enough ice-breaker tankers available to load and transport the gas.

ARC7 carriers, however, are capable of using the Northern Sea Route during the summer months from Russia to Asia. During the winter period, they must use the route to go westwards to Europe.

Currently, Reuters reports that there are seven such tankers operating for the Yamal LNG project. An eighth is reportedly expected to be added to the fleet by the end of November.
