Finland to construct new LNG terminal by end of 2020

Finland currently has two other main LNG terminals in Pori and Tornio. Whilst these are in remote northern and western areas of the country, Hamina is only 150 km from Helsinki, and will be capable of directly supplying the country’s gas network.
Once completed, the terminal will allow Finland to decrease its dependency on Russian energy supplies.
It is the second such project that aims to do so, after the Balticconnector pipeline to Estonia.
