According to the statement, the Containerships Polar will be phased into the redesigned BALT 2 service – a service for Continental Europe, the Baltics and Russia, covering major ports with competitive transit times – in the Port of Rotterdam on 23 June 2019.
At the beginning of last month, the vessel started its voyage from Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard in China to Northern Europe, where it will operate alongside its sister ship, Containerships Nord.
The 1380 TEU Containerships Polar is 170 m long, 27 wide, and has a draft of 6.9 m. It is an ice class 1A vessel, and features LNG dual-fuel engines.
Containerships claims that, at the end of this month, the vessel’s first LNG bunkering operation will be carried out in Rotterdam, where it will take on board approximately 200 metric t of LNG via ship-to-ship bunkering.
