The Government of New South Wales has approved Australian Industrial Energy (AIE)’s request to increase the capacity of its Port Kembla gas terminal.
The modification to the original development consent will satisfy the market need for more gas during the cooler winter months. It allows an increase in throughput, as well as an increase in the number of LNG cargoes able to be received at the terminal each year, without modifying the terminal design.
According to a statement on its website, AIE is looking forward to working with its customers to finalise supply contracts, now the modification has been approved.
Securing these customer arrangements, as well as finalising the last remaining post-consent management plans, will enable the project to make its final investment decision (FID) and commence construction.
