Skangas and NNH sign agreement on LNG supply

Skangas and Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta Oy (NNH) have signed an agreement on the supply of LNG to the Harjavalta Industrial Park, Finland. NNH will use the LNG for the production of hydrogen and for energy production.

Following the agreement, NNH will replace heavy fuel oil and naphtha usage with LNG, thereby improving the efficiency of hydrogen and energy production. In addition, CO2 emissions will be reduced.

NNH Managing Director, Joni Hautojärvi, commented: “We believe that in the new future LNG will be a more secure, more competitive, and, above all, a cleaner fuel from the environmental perspective in comparison with heavy fuel oil. LNG will improve the efficiency of our processes and reduce the carbon footprint our of production. The construction schedule of the Skangas Pori LNG terminal is perfect for our needs”.

We offer environmentally friendly LNG for a diversity of industrial needs as well as for use as a shipping and heavy-duty road transport fuel. The diverse properties of LNG come into their own in various industrial process applications,” said Skangas Ltd’s Director for Marketing and Sales, Tommy Mattila.
