Aqualis Offshore completes Ichthys CPF station keeping job

On 29 May 2017, INPEX announced that the 120 000 t CPF, Ichthys Explorer, had reached its final destination in Australian waters, 220 km off of Western Australia’s north coast.

Since then, Aqualis has been responsible for the position keeping procedure, and provided position keeping masters offshore whilst the CPF has been secured with a total of eight anchors (two in each corner) to ensure that it is storm safe. Once the full mooring has been finalised, the CPF will be moored with a 28-point spread mooring system with chain-wire rope-chain line make-up attached to driven anchor piles.

Aqualis Offshore’s Singapore office has provided services a sub-supplier to POSH Terasea Offshore Pte Ltd, who also managed the successful 5600 km towage of the Ichthys Explorer from Geoje, South Korea, to the Ichthys field.

Aqualis claims that it has also been awarded a contract by POSH Terasea Offshore Pte Ltd to provide position keeping services for the coming offshore installation of the Ichthys floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. Both parties work together on such projects under their FPSOlutions alliance.
