Nakilat transitions Onaiza LNG carrier to in-house management

Nakilat has released a statement claiming that it has assumed full ship management and operations of the Onaiza Q-Flex LNG carrier from Shell Trading and Shipping Co. Ltd (STASCo).

The company claims that this is part of the planned and phased transition that was announced on 19 October 2016. The vessel has a cargo carrying capacity of 210 150 m3, and is wholly-owned by Nakilat and charted by Qatargas.

Onaiza was constructed by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in South Korea. It was delivered in April 2009, and has been in service ever since. It the seventh wholly-owned LNG vessel that will come under the management of Nakilat Shipping Qatar Ltd (NSQL), bringing the total amount of vessels managed by NSQL to 15. This number consists of 11 LNG carriers and four LPG carriers.
