The Woodside-operated Pluto LNG project has supplied its first gas to the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline with successful commissioning of the Pluto pipeline gas facility.
A ceremony was held on site today following the completion of commissioning activities, during which the facility produced at near its capacity of 25 TJs per day.
Pluto pipeline gas will now form part of Woodside’s domestic gas supply portfolio, adding to its foundation domestic gas facility at the North West Shelf.
Additional domestic gas supply from Pluto is scheduled to start up in early 2019 with the commissioning of the Pluto LNG trucking facility. Domestic gas infrastructure on the Pluto site will also be expanded as part of the proposed Pluto Train 2 Project, for which a final investment decision is targeted in 2020.
Woodside Vice President Pluto Mike Price said successful commissioning of the Pluto pipeline gas facility was the first step towards Woodside developing a diverse range of domestic gas supply options at the Pluto LNG site.
“Start-up of Pluto pipeline gas, along with the planned commencement of Pluto domestic trucked LNG in 2019, demonstrates Woodside’s commitment to delivering domestic gas from Pluto,” he said.
