Tallink signs LOI for construction of new LNG-powered shuttle ferry

The vessel will be constructed at the Rauma shipyard in Finland, with completion expected by the end of 2021. The project is estimated to cost €250 million, and will provide approximately 1500 man-years employment for the shipyard.
The dual-fuel ferry will use LNG as its main fuel, and will have a capacity of 2800 passengers. It will operate on the Tallinn-Helsinki route, further developing this important route between the two cities. According to the statement, the vessel will be constructed using all of the latest technologies and most innovative solutions available, as the group aims to build the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly vessel operating on the Baltic Sea.
Over the coming months, Tallink Group claims that it will work with Rauma shipyard towards the shipbuilding contact and financing arrangements.
