LNG tankers commence sea trials before joining Yamal LNG fleet

According to Reuters, Refinitiv data shows that the Nikolay Urvantsev LNG tanker is currently undergoing sea trials, becoming the 13th vessel in the fleet that carries out operations for the Yamal LNG plant.

The vessel is an Arc7 class ice-breaking LNG tanker, and was previously known as DSME 2432. It is owned by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and was constructed at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Okpo shipyard in South Korea.

According to Reuters, the vessel is currently located the Korea Strait.

Reuters reports that the Vladimir Voronin (another Arc7 tanker) is also undergoing sea trials whilst the Nikolay Yevgenov underwent its own sea trials in April this year, delivering its first cargo this month. In addition to this, Reuters reports that the Yakov Gakkel is currently in wet dock at Okpo, suggesting that it too is soon to commence sea trials.

According to Reuters, the vessels are all part of a fleet of 15 vessels that service the Yamal LNG plant.
