According to Reuters, China’s National Petroleum and Natural Gas Pipeline Network Group has announced that ground has been broken for a new LNG terminal project in Yantai, Shandong Province.

This project is reportedly the first energy infrastructure project to be built by PipeChina since it was established in December 2019.

The company is working in cooperation with Nanshan Group to build the new LNG import terminal, and is targeting 2023 for the launch of Phase 1.

The completed terminal will feature 20 gas storage tanks, each with a capacity of 220 000 m3, which will enable the facility to receive 20 million tpy. Phase 1 of the project will operate at a capacity of 5 million tpy.
