LNG Industry,
According to the statement, the FNTP follows a limited notice in December last year, and enables Black & Veatch to work with Keppel Shipyard Ltd to convert the Golar LNG owned carrier into a floating LNG (FLNG) vessel. This will support the development of Phase 1 of BP’s Greater Tortue/Ahmeyim field, which is located offshore Mauritania and Senegal.
Black & Veatch claims that the Gimi project builds on the success of the Golar FLNG Hilli Episeyo, which was completed earlier last year, and has been operating commercially offshore Cameroon ever since.
Bob Germinder, Black & Veatch Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Floating Oil & Gas Solutions, said: “The lower and highly predictable costs of projects constructed in a controlled shipyard environment are another critical advantage offered by FLNG.
“This notice to proceed underscores Black & Veatch’s standing as a trusted partner with companies moving to meet the world’s demand for LNG.”
