SGS has announced that it has won a contract to provide offshore inspectors and third party laboratory services for Shell’s floating LNG (FLNG) project, Prelude.

SGS claims that the contract will necessitate significant collaboration across its entire network. The company will be responsible for ensuring expert support in independent quality and quantity measurements for the project.

The Global LNG Manager for SGS, Sven Lataire, said: “Being part of one of the most significant LNG projects ever undertaken is a unique opportunity for us. We are very excited to assist in transitioning the initial success of this prestigious project into an operational success.”

This follows Technip’s recent announcement that it has also been awarded a contract for work on Prelude. In this case, Technip will provide multi-disciplinary engineering and design services in support of Prelude, and will help enable the smooth delivery of brownfield engineering scope as the project transitions into its operational phase.
