According to the statement, the delivery of the vessels is scheduled for May and August 2021. Both vessels are designed to include ice class 1B, full bunker functionality, double hull and dual-fuel electric twin azimuth propulsion.
This latest order replaces the previous option to build two additional ships with Keppel Singmarine, which was cancelled by mutual agreement.
Avenir claims that its order book for newbuildings remains unchanged, with a total of six vessels – four 7500 m3 LNG carriers and two 20 000 m3 LNG carriers – currently under construction.
In the statement, the company claims that it has existing contracts in place with SOE for two 20 000 m3 LNG carriers, which are scheduled for delivery in 1Q21. In addition to this, the contracts also include options to construct 2 + 2 additional 20 000 m3 LNG carriers.
