ClassNK has announced that it has opened a new survey office in Bahrain, with operations to commence on 15 March 2016. The main ship repair yard in the Middle East is located in Bahrain and the Khalifa bin Salman Port (KBSP) is becoming a significant regional trans-shipment centre since its opening in 2009.
ClassNK claims that, through opening this new office, it will improve the efficiency of Persian gulf region ship surveys.
This follows the announcement made earlier in March 2016 that ClassNK appointed Koichi Fujiwara as its new Chairman and President.
